Finding a white heather among the more common pink and purple varieties is said to bring good luck. In Scotland, tales were told of warriors who fell asleep in a patch of white heather or who wore a sprig in their cap and were victorious on the battlefield in the morning. But take care, because white heather may also mark the entrance to the realm of the fairies. Pink and purple heather was made by the Picts into a delicious wine, which legend says, was the envy of the Vikings.
